Stellate ganglion or lumbar sympathetic chain blocks

Hyperactivity of the autonomous nerves, called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) requires blocks of the autonomous nerves. For pain in the arm we perform a block on the nerves located in your neck called stellate ganglion. The procedure is done with ultrasound guidance showing the live image of the needle position during the treatment. For pain in the leg and foot, a procedure is performed on the lumbar spine level blocking the lumbar autonomous nerve chain. Both procedures are done with IV sedation for easier tolerance of any discomfort.
